Del Porto wins the US Open

The latest news in the tennis circuit is the defeating of Roger Federer by Del Porto in the US Open finals. Juan Martin Del Portoended the run of five time defending champion Roger Federer in men’s singles title in New York, the final score being 3-6, 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2. This the first Grand slam for the 20 year old Argentinean and Roger Federer’s first Grand Slam defeat after winning the French Open and Wimbledon titles this year.

Del Porto, at 6’6”, has thus become the tallest Grand Slam winner; he is also the fifth youngest man to win the US open. For Federer, this was the 21st grand slam final.

Del porto stopped Federer to make a new record of six successive title in US open. The victory becomes sweeter as Del Porto defeated Rafael Nadal to get a berth in the finals.

Federer miss hit many times and raised many disputes. This allowed Del Porto to catch up and finish the match in his favor.
Federer also clashed with umpire during match saying "Come on, you are allowed two seconds to challenge, the guy takes 10," Federer, further, yelled at the umpire "Are there any rules? That was way too long."

The opening set was claimed by Federer, he achieved an early tie break in second set as well. Del Porto broke back in the second set, the third was claimed by Federer, the forth was again taken to tie breaker by Del Porto.  Finally Del Porto simply breezed through the final set.

Federer double faulted before game went to deuce resulting in Del porto victory.

After winning the title, Del Porto said "I did my dream, and it’s unbelievable moment. It's amazing match, amazing people. Everything is perfect."

"I had two dreams this week. One was to win the U.S. Open and the other one is to be like Roger," I'm very happy to be here with this crown, with these people; on this court... this will be in my mind forever.”
