 President Barack Obama's Stance on Health Care Reforms Over the last couple of days, President Barack Obama has subtly changed his stand on health care reform. His earlier sales pitch regarding costs containing and extending insurance coverage has moved towards obstructive insurance industry. In fact, the President went on offensive yesterday supporting his health care plan, and said health critics are creating bogeyman. At a high school auditorium in front of televised national audience, Obama said "For all the scare tactics out there, what is truly scary if we do nothing". It was expected that there would be an unruly reception from people not supporting the health care reform. However there was no sign of that either out of the deference of the President or, the general makeup of the crowd. Some U.S Lawmakers in order to keep protestors at bay have started holding teleconferences during Congress August recess. The town hall meetings across the country have been disrupted by angry protestors. Arlen Specter, Democratic Senator faced hostile questions and jeers as he tried to explain Government's stand on health care reforms. Only President Obama among Democrats did not face any such angry protests. President Barack Obama remarked during one of the questions asked by reporters, "For all the chatter and the yelling and the shouting and the noise, what you need to know is this..if you do have health insurance, we will make sure that no insurance company or government bureaucrat gets between you and the care you need." He addressed these remarks to millions of people who are satisfied with their health insurance policy. President also remarked that as government bureaucrats should not meddle with people's care, bureaucrats at insurance companies should not, either. Although the event security was tight, New Hampshire police arrested two people under charges of misdemeanor. They had brought with them a pocket knife and an unlicensed loaded gun at the event. President Barack Obama reiterated his stand that nation's health care reform will be done without adding to nation's soaring deficit. As the health care reforms are heading towards fall congressional debate, Barack Obama is trying to get the lawmakers and public behind this costly change to the health care system. |
